Hello all , I recently purchased my 86 k20 and the speedometer isn’t working due to having a newer t-case in it which is coded as a 214c the truck has a 350 with a th400 in it. So my question is can I swap out the output shaft cone on the transfer case I have with one from a np205 or 208 transfer case or do I have to swap them entire transfer case out to achieve my goal? If I do have to swap the transfer case out which one will I need I’m not sure what the spline count is without taking the t-case out and would prefer not to cuz the truck is my daily driver right now.

The 241 started in '89 and they were still cable speedo then. The parts are out there, but being one year only, they are hard to find.

Another possibility is swapping in a '90-'91 cluster with electric speedo.

Are the output shafts on the later 241C's not like the 700r4 output shafts where you can use a pulled and remove the reluctor wheel for the electric speedo and install the analog gears?

If not, the 90-91 Cluster wouldn't be a bad option and then you have that part done already for later on down the road with the big LS conversion swap.

And if you don't want to deal with any of that, the NP208 and NP241C are direct swap units. So I'd be willing to bet you could find a guy real happy to swap you for your E Transfer Case for an NP208 or 89 NP241C who is doing an LS Swap and needing a reluctor wheel speed sensor unit.

Moving thread from Garage to Transfer Case section.
