Anybody know where I can find (or are willing to sell) genuine GM tow hooks that go on frame beneath front bumper? I don't think they change at all between minor 73-80 and 81-87 differences, but if they do, also indulge me. Thank you

that looks like its from a 81+, if that is, assuming the hook is the same, i am thinking the hook goes at an angle sweeping backward vs the older trucks was straight up? Im thinking there may be a design change 81+

im not sure how much different the frame horn being rounded vs not rounded like 81+ would affect this or not

But There is a reinforcement plate on the backside of each hook, too, that i feel is probably important

quick google search found this:

which tells me the direction of the hook is unchanged but the way it mounts is obviously different for the frame horn.
im not sure if a 73-80 uses a reinforcement for the hook then.

also, recovery hook would be your proper terminology, i wouldnt recommend towing with the hooks.

I can check my frame in the morning if you want to know if it has a reinforcement. Which truck you need for, your 1980 or your 1988?

Do they need to be factory? There’s a guy near me that sells some heavy duty ones that are laser cut and have a circular hole instead of the hook to take a standard horseshoe shackle.

They do change. 73-80 are shaped like a candy cane, 81 and up are shaped like the curved one pictured above. The 81-up are easier to find, there are usually several sets on eBay. I don’t have a spare set, or I’d hook you up.
