On my 91 dually, I'm getting ready to tackle the rear doors with replacing all of the rubbers, felts, exterior door handles and window motors. The front doors are now complete but I know that the rear doors are quite a bit different and the access to these things is considerably more restricted based on my time with my 87 burb.

With that said, anyone have any tips and tricks for removal of the window regulator in the rear doors of a 3+3 (or burb as I assume they are the exact same setup)?

Thanks in advance for your tips :handshake:

My fronts were pretty easy I thought but I have no exp. with the back doors. Your back doors are in fact the same as Suburban back doors fwiw.

That's exactly right. Just grow some balls and jump into it O77. You may need to power the regulator up or down in the process to get things disassembled and maneuvered out. Basically just the same as the front just less room and more scraped skin and knuckles to deal with LOL.

Every time I work on the truck my kids ask me 138 questions about all the scrapes and cuts on my arms afterwards :whymewhyme:

Isn't that what kids are for?
Apparently so LOL If they're actually there when the scrape happens and they see blood they'll immediately point it out. "Uh, dad you're bleeding" "Be quiet son. I'm doing big boy stuff over here." :happy175:

Power or manual either way it sucks since the regulator is the same size. You'll have to pull the quarter window if your pulling the glass. It's a pain but doable, good luck. I can't remember anything special I had to do on that dually I had but it's been several years since I messed with it too...

Was really hoping to be able to leave the quarter glass in but if it has to be done then it has to be done. If I remember right it’s held in by a screw at the top and a bolt at the bottom :hmm: I guess I can’t iagine that being any harder than the vent windows on the front doors.

It's been a long time since I had to do any real disassembly in a rear door, but like the others have said, it goes about like the front.

It is relatively not hard if I remember correctly. I had to move the quarter window for some reason on mine, but I was also doing seals and sound insulation at the time
