Tilden Motorsports LS used engines

So my father in law offered me his old GMC K15.(1984?) It has been sitting in a field since probably 2003? If I remember right it has the 305, and he said it ran horrible when parked.

I'm sure it hasn't gotten any better.

I started thinking about just putting a "generic" GM crate engine into it. a 265hp 350 (P/N19420194) is $2,880.

Then I was re-watching old episodes of Dirt Everyday on the Motortrend channel. Several times they have used Tilden Motorsports for an LS swap. But they also sell used engines...

You can get a 5.3 with a pre-flashed ECU, custom wiring harness, fuse block, and a 1 year warranty. For $3,000. They even have the 4.8L for $2,200, 6.0L for $4,000 or the 8.1L for $4,000...

Sounds pretty easy to me for something that would start quickly even in cold weather. Although it has the manual trans. I think I've read the LS exhaust hits the clutch linkage or something.

Anyone use them before?

I'm using the 10-15 Camaro 6.2 SS exhaust manifolds on my build, they tuck in a bit closer to the motor, but I'm using the 4l60e. Not sure if it would be better or the same as the stock 5.3 truck exhaust manifolds.
