Recently started hearing whining sound coming from tranny. I think someone told me it was the pump and it would probably get louder and then eventually truck would not move, then would need overhaul to fix.

Wanting to insure that I was told correctly.

Mostly during acceleration from stopped, but not every time. Can also hear it when shifting to D or R. No whining when in N or P. Have not had any other issues. Still drives great.

Seems I had a buddy once with this same described issue and the front pump went **** up after a short time from when the whinning started. As within a few hundred miles.

Change the fluid and filter. If there’s a bunch of crud in the pan you know it’s all downhill from here. There is also a possibility that the filter is restricted, causing the whine. If it works but is just noisy change the fluid and filter, and roll the dice.

From personal experience th350s are finicky...one day your cruisin and the next you have no forward gears at all... im on th350 #4. Most other problems ive had with them is losing 3rd and or reverse. Ive also swapped pumps as i was told thats what went bad but incorrect.
