Hi I am entertaining swapping a new post 1996 GM NV4500 into my 86 k30 454, single rear wheel, std cab, orig came with SM465, np205, 4:10 gears,
10.5" 14 bolt rear axle, factory hyd clutch.
I will use the AA bell housing and brackets. What year transmission mount should be used and will my stock cross member work with minor mods? What mods? I will have the drive shafts modified at south bay driveline san jose.

I put a 94 nv4500 in my 85 I used the 94 bell housing master and slave cylinders.

I had to slot the master cylinder mounting holes and it bolted up. can't remember if I had to enlarge the hole in the firewall or not. I had to make the rod that connects to the clutch pedal.

I used a 208 t case and the stock cross member from a 87 sm465 the one with the long tail shaft and 32 splines no modifications at all it was a bolt on.

I am not sure but I think your 205 and cross member should work.
your 205 should be the round pattern with 32 spline input. the only thing I am not sure about is the length of the input on the 205.

The NV4500 will not fit the SM465 bellhousing. Most guy go ahead and use an NV4500 bellhousing. I've also heard that a machine shop can open up the center hole just a tad and the NV4500 will then fit into the SM465 bellhousing. But I'd verify that and the bolt pattern too. Maybe it's the Dodge NV4500 that needs the different bolt pattern. Different year model NV4500's make a difference too.

Reviving this thread cuz I gotta a question.
Hopefully somebody has the answer.

Can I swap the th400 in my 85 K20 with a nv4500 without driveline mods?

I'm assuming the 208 t-case bolts directly to the 4500? They are both 32 spline but I'm lost on input shaft lenght/adapter issues.
