The display is scratched?
Often, just the top surface of the display will deteriorate and look crappy. But you can actually carefully scrape the top layer off and it looks pretty good underneath.

A piece cut off of a body filler spreader has worked well for me. Basically just scrape the stuff off.

No mine is different. I am just going to have it restored, peel that film off as said above, and find new knobs. The knobs are like yours, want to sell them? Mine are a little worn I am sure I could find perfect ones.

My digital display did the same. I was able to clean off some of the flakes. Looks pretty good.

My 86 k20 had the one you should earlier. It was a bare bones custom deluxe. This digital one is in my loaded Silverado. Not sure how many of these trucks came with the digital radio.
