On the Squarebody's I have noticed through the years that some of the trim has a black Painted insert and some has a yellow painted insert. Can somebody share the light on the difference (I know they came from the factory painted that way on some of these trucks).

77 was a 1 year only anniversary trim ( not sure what anniversary ) that used yellow in the trim and different color bowties on the hubcaps of 4x4 models - not sure about 4x2 - with one exception ...

Apparently the 75 Gentleman Jim GMC got the same yellow trim , which is something I did not know prior to this board.

Now, onto the political bickering a thread above ...

I don't think it was due to an anniversary.

The '75 Gentleman Jim might have had gold in the trim, rather than yellow. Not real sure about that one.

Hmm - I had heard anniversary, but would not be surprised if that was wrong.
So, any idea why ?
I know about the hubcaps cause I got into an argument at the dealership trying to buy one - guy told me they never made them like that .

Really ? Wanna come look at the one still there?
Friggin moron ...

Anyway , the bowtie was yellow, not blue, IIRC.

Thanks!

I just assumed they decided on yellow for the trim and then decided to go back to black. Like maybe there were a bunch of customers that told their dealer that they didn't like the yellow.

I though all the '77-'87 caps had yellow bowties? Mine have.

2wd is a good question- I do not know.

Also curious on the 4wd as most of the ones I have seen were GMC and had the black 4x emblem , so now I am curious.

I am specifically referring to half tons with rally wheels, BTW.

Hmmm...

I believe this is correct.

Gotcha. I was thinking hubcaps on regular steelies. Most of the 6-lug rally caps I've seen or owned had the 4X4 medallion. I've honestly never realized there were other versions.

That’s a black one that has faded/discolored.
