I recently moved to San Antonio from North Carolina.
I have an 84 1500 with a 350 engine
I am no mechanic but I know a little about alot. And just wanted to see if there are any shops or groups etc around the San Antonio area that if need be I can stop by to get someone to look at my trucks performance. just curious what everyone uses for there 350 as far as motor oil.

Also why is there little to no gas stations with non ethanol fuel. I feel my trucks carburetor hates ethanol.
Which additbes do you recommend?

Thanks !

I personally run castrol high mileage gtx 10-40 in my 78' 350. And no carbs do not appreciate corn squeezins, especially if the truck doesnt get run much.

This is the stuff. You’re crazy if you use anything else.

As far as getting something running well, I’ve always had good luck at the dealer. Who would know these trucks better?

There used to be a lot of pick and pull yards with parts for your truck, and its easy to find parts at the box stores (Autozone, etc.), but for some reason San Antonio does not have many performance shops.

When I had a flat tappet cam I always used Mobil 1 Synthetic 15w50, which has 1200 ppm of Phosphorous and 1300 ppm Zinc. Its available from nearly all parts stores, and even Walmart usually has it in 5 quart jugs.
