Speedometer wire question

Can't seem to find the answer, not here or the Chilton manual. What is the wire coming from the back of the speedometer. It is screwed down but does not appear to connect to anything.

I think your looking a a VSS vehicle speed sensor. it is a magnetic pickup used for the cruise control .

That’s the VSS buffer wire. It’s a Hall effect sensor so it ‘sees’ the rotation of the speedo to figure out your speed and send that info to the cruise control and, in your case, the ECM, as well.

That makes sense. Don't have cruise that I know of, guess it's standard issue. Thanks.
