Im having a bear of a time with the shifter. Like an idiot, i put the tranny in gear and removed the shifter so i could line up the splines while spinning the tail. Well, i should have just left it in, because i cant get it right. I attached a couple pics from the top. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I normally pull them in neutral too, but iirc, you technically are supposed to do it with it in 2nd (counting Low as 1st).

You should be able to work some magic with a long flat-blade screwdriver. Just hold your tongue right while you're doing it, lol.

Does anyone know which way i should move stuff. Trying to avoid pulling this thing out cuz it was a challenge putting this thing in by myself on gravel.

You should be able to drop the shifter in with no issues. Just try it positioned in each of the gears and set it in. 5 chances. I've done many times, I just remember which gear I put it in. I'm guessing the forward part of the truck is on the left side of the picture. I really don't remember where the slot for the shift is, but guessing it looks like its in L or 2 because it looks like the slot is by the lower keeper pin on the right side. good luck.

If I remember correctly it's actually in reverse, but not fully locked into reverse, but about in the middle of the reverse "gate".
