I have a 1990 V2500 suburban with the SM 465 manual transmission and New Process 241c transfer case. Did a fluid change in both and the ATF in the transfer case was low and the transmission was over filled and has the appearance of some ATF mixed with it. I assume I have seal(s) leaking in each unit ? I have never had this configuration apart. I know there is an adaptor housing. Is there a seal on the tranny output and the transfer case input or is there some sort of common seal in the adaptor housing ? Seems like it might be common or my luck is just that damn bad and both seals are leaking. I plan to run it for a while checking both units with some frequency to see how severe this is. I have probably went 20,000 on this run. I dont often think about leaks that dont run out on the driveway but I guess it I will need to start paying attention. I look forward to your input and experience with this issue. Thanks

Doesn't the sm465 run gear oil and not ATF?

I have a 700r4 and np241 combo in my 1990 suburban. I had an input seal leak once, but the tranny overfilled the transfercase. I guess it can also go the other way?
