I got tired of the single belts and issues. I put a 1992 trans am single belt serp setup.
it worked perfect. I put a small electric fan in front of 4 core radiator and truck ran about
210 to 205. Not good for a SB 350. I spent $93 for a reverse flex fan and 3 1/2 inch spacer.

I have done this swap at least 15 times with no issues, but only using electric fans.
The first time I use a flex fan (reverse rotation) at 5600 RPM it blew up!!

My question is are these water pumps not suppose to use fans?? as no cars were ever
equipped with fans on the water pumps, only electric fans!

Anyone ever done a serpentine swap and used a flex fan with success?
Here whats left of it. Fan had 20 minute drive time lol. Pulley broke right
at the shaft. everything else was just in the way. So much for the 4 core radiator.

Did you have a shroud? perhaps the turbulance on the fan in unintended directions and the speed was too high for the pulley or the pulley wasnt secured down. a reverse fan rotation would need reverse threads i would think, because thats how my ford does it and if sbc in my gmc is rotation, and the bolts go lefty loosey, then lefty loosey in a lefty rotation means big brown turd town

also your electric fan shouldnt have had an issue cooling a 350 with a 4 row unless you had some serious sediment in your system.

which appears to have sprayed everywhere

Yup rust from the truck just sitting all the time. The electric fan was a small 14 in. It worked
just not good enough. No shroud.

a cooling fan from a 1988-1991 lesabre, olds 88, olds 98, electra park avenue, bonneville(if they made them then), etc should share a radiator fan that has like a shroud built around it.
pretty nifty

i mean, look at the bright side. a good opportunity to make a nice, clean cooling system with a brand new core for your gigantic 4 core that got impaled by a pissed off fan from hell

The riveted part of the blade is the "leading edge" of the fan blade. You have it round the wrong way for starters, and if you had flipped it over the air would blow towards the radiator ? I'm guessing the blade folded back on itself and caught on something, the rest was the train wreck that followed. From what l can see of the shaft, it looks a clean break, judging by the clean metal.

its reverse rotation. due to serp setup.
