replacing locking mechanisim on center console 89 sub

Ive been trying to figure out how to get the damn thing out to put another one on that I have in my other "parts" suburban

There should be 4 bolts (or studs) in the bottom.

There should be 4 bolts (or studs) in the bottom.

I don't see anything there and I'm just removing the lock itself cause the interior colors are different

Yeah, that little hole is the trick. Iirc, with the key inserted, you stick a paper clip into the hole and it comes apart that way. There's a thread on it here somewhere, it's like the glovebox lock.

I don't mean to resurrect a dead thread here..
But I'm trying to remove the center console mechanism myself to send off to someone .. I popped the cap off of the top like he did, I've tried a paperclip in the hole, key inserted, turning the key and prying, thing will not come out!


Slowness on my part...

Looked at hotrod's post... I'll try that and then return....
Thought it was unrelated to center console
