Removing Doors

Having a blonde moment.....plus a very bad sinus headache.

When removing the doors, do you leave the hinges in place on the door or the cab? I know there are shims and such, but also remember there is a rule for easier alignment / re-installation.

Unbolt the doors from the hinges if the front fenders are still on. If the fenders are off I still prefer to leave the hinges on the cab, then you can just latch the rear of the door and bolt the door to the hinges and the alignment should be pretty close.

Unbolt the doors from the hinges if the front fenders are still on. If the fenders are off I still prefer to leave the hinges on the cab, then you can just latch the rear of the door and bolt the door to the hinges and the alignment should be pretty close.

Yep - makes sense. Its just the cab on a cart at this point.

I haven't seen it done in years but I used to see restoration shops drill 1/8" alignment holes in the hinges after it was aligned before you blew it apart for paint so that you could easily align after paint.
