So after realizing one of my saddle tanks has a hole in it and the other has rust in it.

I’ve been looking at the rear mounted tanks

Rockauto shows a 25 gallon behind the axle tank as an option.

My trucks a 74. I was just curious if anyone knows this is a Mislabeled tank or if in fact it will work

Figured get straps mounts and new sending unit for the whole setup and be into less than 2 saddle tanks with senders

I’m staying carb’d with a mechanical pump so I wanted to try and stick with “stockish” setup

As for the full setup I thought about the LSfab bed corner setup. My truck has a 9in C notch and a double stacked bed. So I’ll need to double check the measurements to make sure it wouldn’t be sitting above the bed rail lol

I’m curious who has used the spectra 25 gallon rear mounted tank and their experience with it!

Thanks yall

He shows it coming through the bed floor just forward of the rear tail light.

Mike, that’s probably a blazer tank. Quite a few people have put blazer and burn tanks in pick ups before, so there may even be ready-made kits to mount them. I was at a show and saw somebody who was selling a kit for the rear tail light housing to make it hinge out with a filler neck behind it. It looked pretty cool.

I’ve got a spare Blazer filler neck if someone wants to move a filler door.

Driver or passenger side bed corner in the back. Which ever has the least amount of obstruction.

I gotta lay under the truck this week and take some measurements and make sure nothing would be in the way.

I would love the larger k5 31/40 gallon tank but I think it would hang down to far considering how slammed the truck is

I’ve seen the LSFab tail light filler for $600! Plus I think they are a Canadian company so I’m assuming there would be tariffs as well!

After buying a Tilt shortened column this past weekend. These odd’s n Ends needs to be a little nicer to the wallet lol

Yeah, no way I’d pay $600. The one in your first post is out of the way enough. As long as the 4x8’ area is clear, it seems fine. Even better that the one you picked is elevated somewhat, so it’s easier to reach if you have stuff in the bed.

My buddy had a rear tank installed in his 72 c10. The one his installer picked out routed the fuel cap pretty close to the middle of the bed floor near the tailgate. I didn’t think that was the best idea for a truck bed that’s actually usable.

Here is what the Blazer filler neck looks like as it goes between the body and frame to the tank. (Along with the cover that goes inside the body to cover the filler)

I’ve had a rabbit truck with the tank being aftermarket and the fill being dead center of the bed. I said I’ll never do it again. I hate how that looks and takes away from putting stuff in the bed lol

I did a 31 in a long bed. A 40 would hang down alot, especially on one lowered. I wouldn't have been comfortable with a 40 on this truck for sure. I think a 40 will definitely be too long for a short bed too. A 25/31 is gonna be a tight squeeze as is.

I have a dr side LS Fab tail light filler I would sell for $500 shipped. I won't be able to use it as my rear suspension won't work with how I planned to a gas tank.

Edit: that's also not how I ended up finally mounting it. I just didn't take anymore pictures. That was going to interfere with the bed floor bracing alot. I used some flat stock across the frame as a stop in the rear and a c channel at the front for the straps. I bolted a piece of angle to it as a stop for the front. Still had to trim the bed floor bracing for the lines/sending unit hump and for the filler neck.

So I was talking with my buddy who owns the shop where my truck is. We gotta look and see if the 4 link will interfere with mounting a tank back there. The 3in exhaust dumps out before the axle so I know we are clear on that. Worst case scenario I stick with the single 16 gallon saddle tank for the time being and tackle the rear tank at another time. Considering we’ve talked about re doing the 4 link down the line cause I don’t like how the previous owner half ass installed it.

I did see umi makes a tank that works but with their 4 link lol

I’ll have to keep you in mind about that tail light fill. It’s not a need but a major want

I’ll have to take some pics but my OG bed is half gone. Cut out for the 9in c notch. They took another bed and welded it to the body above the original one. Allows you to still have a functional bed but also allows for a lot of second guessing of how things will work ordered off the internet with out putting eyes on it and taking measurements
