Saved an old 77 C30 from the wrecking yard. The PO's landlord said it had to be gone because it didn't run. He had no title so he couldn't sell it for a driver. I picked it up originally for parts for my K25, but when I loaded it up and saw the shape she was in, I knew I had to save her. I went through under the hood saw her 454 with original Q'jet, 4 speed manual, she is a 10K Camper Special Scottsdale and ended up putting in new filters, fuel lines, plugs, rotor, plugs wires and fuses. She started up but ran rough, timed her and she smoothed out just fine. I had to put a couple of tires on the front and fix a leaking power steering hose and will have to replace valve cover gaskets before too long. I have a set of headers to out on to hopefully wake her up a little and will end up putting on a new dual exhaust from the headers back. Now that she ran nice, I decided to go to the title office and see about titling her. I had to do a "break bond" procedure and got a bit of a surprise when they told me I needed to buy a bond for the NADA blue book value and not the amount I paid for her. When I checked NADA, I was in for the surprise of my life. According to NADA, the low retail was $9,700 and the high was $29,500. I went ahead and bonded her at the lowest value and got a 1 year plate with the statement that this allows me to drive it, but does not guarantee that the state will issue a title. This was in Dec, this week, I got the title in the mail so she is ready to roll now. I was pretty happy. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it for the long run (probably sell it), but for now she is a nice little toy.

Do you mind saying what the bond cost you? Just curious. Nice find.

For a $9700 value the bond cost me $140 through Paynewest.

Thanks. We don't have that option here, so just curious what others have to deal with.

Good looking dually for sure. Weird how your state does that. For me, in Kansas, I just had to pay $45 for an inspection to show the truck looked about a stock as possible for the year, and show the VIN # wasn't sanded off, and that was it. Title came in the mail in 3 weeks. :)

In your situation, I'm not sure if I'd want to sell one of those or not. Looks like you have the room, so I'd say keep them both.

    Nice find and great save!

If you're going to sell it, why put headers and dual exhaust on it? I prefer them stock myself.

I've decide to put her up for sale. Hopefully she can help me fund the restoration on my GMC. Still haven't put the headers on...
