Hi own a Cheyenne 1991 Mexico version which is similar to the chevy truck 1986. It has a 350 5.7 engine with a Rochester Quadrajet carburator.
Since the carburator is giving some problems, Can i replace the Quadrajet carburator by a TBI from a 350 engine 1992?
I appreciate your advises

Does your truck have a mechanical fuel pump on the block or an electric pump in the fuel tank?

If it were me, I would find a replacement carburetor, TBI has a lot more extra essential components than a carb system

National Carburetors in Florida rebuilt my 86' quadrajet. It runs perfectly and smooth. Very reasonable price and great warranty an customer service. Just FYI. Keep it original if you can

It is more than just the carb - I'm not sure the TBI from a 1992 would work but the TBI from a 1987 might (or from an 88-90 crew cab or Suburban that also had the 5.7L.

It would require changing absolutely everything including the intake (different from Quadrajet to TBI on the 5.7), fitting a 15PSI electric fuel pump to feed the throttle body and then fitting up and wiring in the computer and all the associated sensors, as well as the computer controlled distributor. Its not impossible, but to be honest I agree with the previous posters that its probably too much effort and cost compared to just getting a fresh Q-Jet to bolt on. Plus the TBI system itself is not always trouble free even when factory installed.
