Just put in a full carpet in my 74 c10 and wondering how the floor mounted highbeam switch it’s is supposed to be mounted, under the carpet or over the carpet.
The utilitarian in me says the truck just had the switch mounted on top of the carpet with the two screws going down through it. Otherwise the whole switch would bulge under the carpet with just the hole for the actual switch button.? Not a big deal just wondering what factory was.

There's supposed to be a grommet in the carpet that the switch sticks through.

thanks, i some of the car forums mention that but nothing here.

Unless you're the guy who drove it off the lot you don't know what's been done to the poor thing in it's life. Most aftermarket companies provide a grommet,... most.

GM stuck it through the carpet.

@MikecLA,

Yes, it goes under the carpet and there is a circular rubber "grommet" that goes over the switch. But you'll have to go to a place like Classic Trucks website to find that grommet probably. You can get the switch at any auto parts store.
