Hey everyone. I just purchased a set of pro maxx sbc 200cc aluminum heads from skip white performance. what kind of hp/tq numbers will i get from these? My 350 has the stock 77 smogger heads and an edelbrock performer intake with a holley 650 cfm carb. It has a comp cams rv cam not sure on specs. But the motor right now feels like its a dog with a lame leg. Im hoping these new heads with the comp cams high energy 1.6 rockers will help wake up this motor. What kind of numbers should i expect?

Well, the first thing I would do is figure out what my compression ratio is.

Depending on age and such of motor... Even with that "rv" cam I'd say ball park 250hp ish as is.

Without a dyno to check your shooting in the dark.

You mean 250 once the new heads are on? my main concern is will the new heads and the new th350 built up and a 2500 stall give me a bit more pep.

No. You need a lot more than that.

What do you have for gearing in the rear? What about tire size? Hold is the engine? A different cam like a Comp Cam 12-300-4.. Headers.. Aluminum dual plane intake..

That stuff would make a difference. Just throwing a set of heads onto a engine and expecting a huge change in numbers is not going to happen.

If you want to wake those heads up its all about the cam with piston design. The heads are just one part of a multipart system.

it has 3.73s and 35 inch tires, I have headers i think the cam is a 292 or something like that. Im not expecting a miracle here im just hoping that, these will give me a alittle difference.

4.10 gears would give you more pep then a set of heads. 292 on a rv cam? Do you have a spec sheet for said cam? Even my torque cam is only 248 if I remember correctly.

If you truly have a 292 cam , you are way over cammed , that's why its a dog. With a cam like that you will have very low cylinder pressure in a stock motor = no low end power. If you have stock heads on it now they are problably 72cc the pro maxx heads are 64cc so it will bump the compression up a bit which will help but not cure your problem of to much cam. Also those heads are 200cc intake runners with 202 valve's wich are for top end power not low end.

Its all about the right combo , if you run d dish pistons at 0 deck with those heads and get the compression up to 9.5 to 9.8 , have a cam guy pick you a cam to keep the cylinder pressure up , (just before pinging) and get it to .040 quench you will have a pump gas motor that will scare the crap out of you

You want a dynamic compression ratio no higher than 8.5 on pump gas and the cam selection you make controls that with your static ratio
