The newer C7's that were in the miltary mine resistant vehicles were basically an electronically controlled upgrade to the 3126's. Being military spec, they had none of the emissions garbage and were much higher power output than the commercial versions. They were rated at 370hp and over 1000lb-ft of torque and we would see 12-22 mpg in a 24,000lb vehicle depending on what you were doing. They had an Allison 3500sp 6-speed automatic behind them and had no problem cruising at 65mph down the freeway.

We had a couple '03 6500 GMC's with the 3126 and they were actually electronically controlled. I won't get into it because it will just bring back bad memories, but they were unreliable turds. We ended up sending them to auction just to get them out of our hair.

Almost all the issues I've seen people have with them have been emissions related. Thankfully the military says "no thanks" to all of that junk. I think the 3126 and C7 main differences were in the injectors and ACERT system that was in the C7. The only issue we ever had was engine oil not being changed enough causing HEUI injectors to get jammed. Regular oil change intervals solved that issue, even in the desert.

I have seen the marines run one on a three hour mission, in the mountains in Afghanistan, with ZERO coolant!! It drove in the gate and died at the end of their mission because it got hot enough to MELT THE INJECTOR CONNECTORS under the valve cover. The melted plastic then went into the HPOP and clogged it up. We put a new radiator in it(hole in the radiator caused the loss of coolant), new injector wiring harness, cleaned the plastic out of the HPOP, changed the oil, and it fired right up and drove fine the whole rest of the deployment.

@SK 99 had a red Z28 with the 6-speed and it was a really fun car. A bit of a sleeper until the cutout was opened up, lol.

2 good looking trucks there for sure. Your buddy's truck looks sick! Love those wheels and stance. Nicely done.

Yeah I love his truck. It’s kinda odd though, it’s a Silverado with manual windows and no tilt. It’s got a stock 6.0/4L60, DJM 3” arms and flip, forged 22s and 255/315s. Sweet truck
