Getting ready to paint my door panels. What is everyone's opinion on the DupliColor Fabric & Vinyl? That is what I am going to be using. I also have their prep adhesive promoter. Have not used it yet but I think it should come out great. Just wanted to get some opinions before I start in on them.

On hard plastic, I've had MUCH better luck using SEM paint or the Rustoleum stuff that's meant for plastic... can't think of the name at the moment.

*EDIT* Scratch that... it's Krylon Fusion.

I just used Krylon Fusion satin black on my dash pad and the plastic defroster vents and I am amazed at how good it looks. If it wasn't for the obviously patched cracks, you would swear it came from the factory that color.

I'll have to wait and see how well it holds up though.

The Fusion seems to hold up well. For example, the window switch pod on the driver's door of my Celebrity. My knee rubs it when I drive and it still looks good, I painted it back in '06.

I just did one door panel in the duplicolor. I think ill do the other in krylon fusion and see which one is better. The duplicolor is good looking. I also thought about using rust oleum spray truck bed liner on them.

Cool! Post up picks of how it turns out. I actually have a can of the duplicolor vinyl and fabric dye, but haven't got the chance to try it out yet.

I tried the Duplicolor stuff about 12 years ago. It works ok on plastic and vinyl, but not great, so I haven't used it for that purpose since then. I have used it on carpet and cloth though, it works pretty well for that as long as you don't mind losing a little 'softness' for a while. It's best for making one faded color look new again, it works for a color change when going darker, but it takes a lot of coats.

Thanks. I took a scotch bright pad and got majority of the scratches out and dirt. The I used there prep spray and adhesive promoter and then the duplicolor fabric and vinyl spray. Came out real nice. Hopefully the will hold up with all the prep I did.

using the Krylon fusion, did you use an adhesion promoter? Or did you just clean/scuff/clean/paint?

Clean/scuff/clean/paint. I use denatured alcohol to clean the plastic.
