I ordered a battery tray and inner hanger assembly from LMC the other day. The inner hanger assembly didn’t come painted just raw metal. I was wondering what is the best brand and type of spray paint to use for it. Just not sure what typically is used for that type of part.

scrub it good with a scotch brite and solvent and hit it with some VHT epoxy or good old rustoleum black would work fine too.

I wonder if they wouldn't rot away so fast if you put some good quality bed liner on em? But other yeah rustoleum is my go to, the 2x coverage or whatever it is, the semi gloss 2x is good stuff.

I just ordered the pan off eBay for mine. It comes black coated, the one I bought. I am going to rough mine up. Maybe hit it with rattle can primer and black Rust-Oleum brush on paint.

My new battery tray came in today. I ordered it off eBay. I thought this would just be a coating to protect from rust but first glance it appears a decent coating of paint. But I am still going to scuff it up and paint it with Rust-Oleum , brush on paint.

I put POR15 on mine. Have not reinstalled it yet as the truck is a work in progress. I just wanted something hard and hopefully durable

I'm surprised the support wasn't coated. I bought my tray and support from LMC as well, both were coated black.
I sprinkle baking soda around the battery tray and battery about once a year while checking connections for corrosion then hose it off with water. The baking soda neutralizes the acid so it won't corrode the metal.

For a daily driver,no matter what paint you use,it’s just one of those items that need wired wheeled and repainted every 5 years or so,possibly sooner depending on area.A good primer is red oxide industrial paint. The way GM stamped the trays, the lip of where it should drain sticks up a bit,so moisture hides under the battery until it drys out.Mixed with some acid and even the best paint starts getting brittle.
