You might have it done by 2025 .
I doubt it lol
snapped up some 73-80 inner fender wells over the weekend. So I've pretty much got everything I need to get going on my front clip swap. Now it's just a matter of time and motivation. I'm guessing around October/November or March/April
Not that soon. Sheesh!
On a serious note I do have a pseudo plan of attack for this truck. Needless to say, this year has really delayed my original plans as it has with many other people. So we replan and adapt
this weekend my plan is to restrip the roof and put some epoxy primer down and then some real paint in the hopes to stop the surface rust once and for all. The Rust Encapsulator from Eastwood turned out to be worthless essentially.
Then closely following that I’ll be welding up the holes in both doors from the original mirrors. At the time I’ll be taking off the current mirrors, welding up the holes and reinstalling them. When I originally installed them I got them a little low and it’s been bugging me for a while now so they’re getting a redo.
and that’s will start my bodywork in earnest on the entire truck and I’ll the just move around panel by panel getting the body exactly how I want it. I don’t think it’ll be too bad since there isn’t any real rust repair to deal with. The passenger rear door will be the only major spot. I believe there used to be a concave dent in that door that someone half ass popped back out and now I have a protruding dent that I need to give some attention to.
as I go I’m looking at using the Optiflow system to get it in primer and prep it for paint. My goal is to get paint it a fresh coat of white early next summer. So between now and then is when I’ll do the front clip swap. With the clip swap I’m hoping to also retro fit the 91 hood release into the 73-80 core support and hood. That should be a fun little project within the project
anyhoot, that’s my goal for the next year with this truck. May throw in a few more things along the way.
Please go give input regarding cowl hood or stock hood on my poll.....
My 79 has an inside hood release but you need the proper latch and core support for it. The parts are out there if you want to make it a little easier on yourself. I would think that would be easy enough to find.
'77 was the first year it was available. That set up will not work with a pre-77 grille if that's the type you were going for.
That rectangular hole in the last picture is also a requirement to use the factory setup. Older model hoods don't have it and neither to some aftermarket cowl hoods.
Ordered service manuals for the dually this week. Found some good, used ones on eBay
Did you end up doing the rear disc brake conversion on this? I made it to page 6 of this thread but I'm at work and the pages load so slow and some of the pictures load slow or not at all.
I have not yet. It’s still a ways away yet. Next big thing for this truck is a paint job
