Does anyone know what color the oil pressure gauge wires are when they come through the fire wall into the engine compartment under the hood going toward the sending unit?
There is only one lead that runs from the gauge, transits the FW and connects to the oil pressure sender. It's TAN. The sender body is grounded through the engine block and (depending on oil pressure) it creates a variable resistance that is used to control the gauge's needle position.
The oil pressure
switch has two leads connected to it that come through the FW. Those leads are PNK/WHT & DK BLU. The PNK/WHT is hot from the CHOKE fuse. The DK BLU controls the operation of the CHOKE light on the dash. Additionally, there is a LT BLU spliced onto the DK BLU. The LT BLU is lead over to the choke heater. When oil pressure reaches about 10 pounds the switch closes, the CHOKE light goes out and power is supplied to the choke heater. The choke heater then begins to assist the choke plates in opening.
