Gentlemen, I have been chasing an oil leak on a 86 350. I have replaced the rear main seal, oil pan gasket and the intake gasket. I have also replaced the dipstick tube just in case. Still have a leak somewhere and not sure where to go from here. The oil seems to be coming from the passenger side around the starter location. Any ideas or suggestions?

I did replace the valve cover gasket and I did put a new distributor gasket.

Some small block Chevys in that year of manufacture range actually had a factory bolt-on kit that would place the engine oil dipstick on the passenger-side of the block. This was only on the late blocks with a two-piece rear main seal. It would be located near the oil pan rail and was secured with two cap screws.
I have seen leaks from there on only a few occasions.

Check your positive crankcase vent (PCV stick) in your valve cover and make sure it's good. Might have a pressurized engine.

Could it be a head gasket? Could it be a crack in the block? If so, wouldn’t either of these cause other problems with the way the truck runs?

Is yours a that or is yours a those? Some have a sender or switch behind the distributor and some have a second switch on the block.

Does your truck have 2. One on the side of the block and one behind the distributor. A lot of trucks have 2. Which is why I keep asking if it has 2
