Hello, Just cleaned my used (new to me) np241 transfer case with electronic speedo and noticed I have a crack by where the shift lever is located. Almost looks like someone was going to fast and shifted to 4x4. Does anyone know if it's possible to use the front half of a np208 with the back half of the np241? I'm also trying to find someone that may be able to weld it.
I'm no expert on T/C design/repair - by any means. But just from what can be seen in the parts dwgs, it doesn't look like the front casing of a 208 would work with a 241. 208: 241C:
Found a np 241c from a 89 suburban. Do I just need to change the tail housing and gear for the one on my 91 suburban to have electric speedo?
Thanks. I measured the shaft and it was the same length. At least using the same reference points on both. I was also able to slide the 40 tooth gear on after I removed the plastic gear with no problem. Then I put the snap ring back on. Then the tail housing. All seems to work. Am I missing anything?
Also when I connect the vss from the LS PCM to the vss harness of the 241c do you know which wires go to which wires? I have green and purple on the ls harness and the connector on the 241 has green and purple. Is it as simple as match the colors?
You would have to read the pinout chart at ls1tech. I am pretty sure the colors are the same over the years for the most part though. You just have to double check the pinout numbers and the wire that is there though because sometimes tuners use leftover wire from what they have pulled from the harness, rather than making sure they use a proper color coordinated wire.
From what I can find purple is the high signal and green is low (ground) Since both the harness on the t-case and the one from the donor were untouched I think the wires are original.
