My latest......Picked this up the other day for a steal, It was so clean I couldn't pass it up, its a C20 with the C6P Heavy duty Chassis package and is a Silverado Package. 350 th400 interestingly enough this can hold a bigger camper than the dually but just 100 lbs less weight . I went and looked at it and it wouldn't hardly run, y pipe is broken and held together with a tin can and a worm clamp , I managed to drive it home 25 miles at 65-70 mph got it home and tinkered with it to find out its got a big vac leak under the carb adapter , the dist was super loose, it is in sad shape. The ad said it had a rebuilt engine with 1000 miles ,, needless to say when i asked the guy about it he couldn't seem to locate the paperwork ..lol I could see by the 2 inches thick of grease on the block it wasn't rebuilt but did seem to run OK on the highway.

    Little cleaning up..

OK got the exhaust redone the other day , The Original was broken right after the Y on the Y pipe, They had it wrapped up with muffler putty and tin flashing and worm clamps..lol

I just had em replace it from there back with a flowmaster knockoff Xcelerator Muffler Hate flowmaster , but this was kinda heavy duty and its not a racecar after all.
    IMG_0145_zps1i5ylr6m.jpg
I found a used bolt on tip out in the scrap pile.. so I asked what he wanted for it and He gave it to me for free.
    IMG_0144_zps68ezhsfx.jpg
Also pushed out some of the damaged rear lower quarter.
    IMG_0146_zpswgxzmn8m.jpg

Also I knew it leaked from the exhaust manifolds, and turned out the block is a 300 hp 350 from a 70 impala with a set of 73 993 heads, old style understyle manifolds they tried to bolt up to the 85 y pipe . They had packed the flanges with muffler putty to try and stop the leaking, but it didn't work, still sounds like at idle but the main system is now OK , debating headers or just get the correct manifolds.

With the big block they definitely got the power to what what you want. Looking underneath yours looks about as rust free as mine, too :) That truck is looking super solid all around

yea Mines rocking a 300hp 350 short block from a 70 impala according to the index code and some 73 993 heads , it runs like crap at the moment but I eventually want to do a vortec 350/4l80E swap if the IRS would let go of my money...

Heavy duty chassis but doesn't have a full float rear axle. I'm not that familiar with the RPO codes/packages though...

I think it might have more to do with the brakes and springs rather than the axle.

Love the color of the truck, looks like it's going to be a great project.

Brakes , Springs and the frame is thicker, Its kind of In between a 3/4 ton and a 1 ton..
Reg 3/4 frame is 3.57 wide and the C6P is 4.53 and the crew cab 1 ton is 7.33 and the reg cab 1 ton is 6.14 thick . C6P rear springs are rated 1,000 lbs more than a reg cab 3/4 ton. the the 1 tons and crew cab 3/4 crew cabs only got full floaters 6,000 lb vs 7500lb for a full floater. according to the manual..lol You could still check the boxes and order what you wanted back then though, not like today.

well Little update I did a compression test and 7 re around 150 and #8 is 50 LBS wet or dry and the exhaust it pulling a peice of paper in so I suspect it has a burnt valve. I picked up a running LO5 from a 90 van for 400 bucks fan to flywheel and will be swapping that out during spring break.

That's a pretty clean truck, nice score. I really don't see how those running boards ever caught on. I mean I like old school stuff, but man I hate those things.
