I'm one of those low tech dinosaur guys trying to figure out how all of this stuff works. I have no idea where this will wind up.
I recently decided to resurrect an 84 C10 LB that has been sitting out side, facing due west, in our heavy equipment yard since 2005. The picture, if it shows up, is the company's owners father in the truck in 1987. It was bought new by the company from A J Foyt Chevrolet in Houston for the owners recently retired father to use, running errands for the company.
After his father's passing in 1988, the truck was used by a few other employees in their company duties. The owner was attached to the truck and did not want to get rid of it so it was finally parked and forgot. I remember seeing it many times but was not really interested in it, until recently. I have been with the company for 27 years and will soon be retiring and thought having a truck around would be fun. I could readily afford to buy one of those new fancy beasts but decided I would rather spend about a third of the cost and have this classic beauty. They are much harder to come by.
I spoke to the owner and he said he was just thinking about having it hauled off to the junk yard and would be honored to give the truck to me. I told him I wanted to restore it to original and if the engine was not locked up, I would take on the project. A couple of weeks later, our mechanic pulled it out of the yard, put a battery in, poured gas in the carb and it fired right up. Wow, boy was I excited!
The truck has 52,300 miles on the clock, still had the build sheet on the fender under the hood, auto w/OD trans, power windows and locks and tilt wheel. It easily accepts all the money you want to pour into it, so I'm on my way. I know I will be needing help with this adventure so I'll try to figure out how to keep this gang posted.
