I just ran across this site yesterday and thought I might be able to get and maybe give a little info. on these great trucks that we all love.
My truck started as a '76 K20 lwb that my grandfather bought new and used around the farm. I remember sitting in the seat on my knees driving in the hay fields trying to keep it in the rows and off the hay.
Years later I now have the truck and it had seen it's better days. Mechanicaly it was sound but lordy it was full of rust. Last fall I found a '79 C10 that had a bad motor but was a good rust free truck. During Christmas I took an extra week of vacation and did a body swap. It was a lot of work but I was able to teach my 13 year old boy a few things and spend a lot of quality time with him and my dad who also helped out some.
It still needs a good paint job but that will have to wait a little while. I'm just glad that I was able to keep it on the road for a few more years.
I will post a few pics if I am able to figure out how (I'm pretty good with a wrench or a welder, computer not so much).
