This site has provided me some good reference information, so I thought it was time to introduce myself.

About a month ago I picked up an '85 Sierra Classic for my wife to use as a Home Depot truck. The steering was worn out, the suspension was beat, and the engine was leaking oil from wherever it could. I basically bought a frame and sheetmetal, which was okay because I planned to swap everything out.

Here it was the day I bought it:

Last week when I finished the suspension and put it back on the ground for the first time:

After cleaning the front crossmember and frame rails:

I put the drivetrain in on Sunday:

It's coming along well. I've never done this before, but it's proving to be not too difficult. The only thing I have left to do is pretty much everything.

Looks like your Idler arm needs to turn 180 and point to the rear.

Thanks, guys. It's the most comprehensive build I've ever done, and the only domestic vehicle I've taken apart, which explains why idahovette is correct:

Looks like your Idler arm needs to turn 180 and point to the rear.

Thanks, I'll spin them around! I have to take the steering apart anyway to install the foam washers that came with the idler and Pitman arms. I thought they were only there to protect the machined shafts.

Welcome! It looks so much better with the rally wheels.

That was literally the first thing I did. A friend's father-in-law had rallys and traded me. We both thought we came out on top, so that's the best kind of trade.
