All 100% back together. All sheilds, trays liners etc. Runs awful as expected with the cam an no tune so no driving yet. Man it sounds awesome through the exhaust though. I barely got it to run long enough to get up to about 165* degrees.

Thats what I’m talking about. I believe you when you say it’s not as bad as it looks, I feel the whole setup looks pretty straightforward (compared to many vehicles).
But I’ll be dammed if they don’t look like 15 lbs of chit in a 2 lb bag by causal observation.

This coming from a guy who could only get 5 spark plugs and 4 new wires in a 99 V6 Camaro though. I don’t have the best patience with some things.
Luckily it cured the misfire….

I had a 97 V6 firebird for a bit. Those 4th gens are horrible to work on an honestly make crappy daily drivers imo too.

See if this works for you guys if you want to hear how it sounds....

Thanks guys, I'm probably going to be to scared to beat on it for a while lol. I'm sure it will mellow out sound wise some when it's tuned. It's basically fighting itself right now an if I don't keep it around 1k rpm it won't stay running.

Well I'm struggling with a decision here now. I had it scheduled with a semi local (1.5 hrs away) shop next week for tuning. Was going to run about $700 unsure if that included the tuning credits or not but I think it did. Communication was basically non existent though after setting the appointment an heard some not great things about them on dodge stuff. I think they are out now regardless, I just have a feeling I'll have to go somewhere else anyways.

Have a quote for a remote tune from a not so local (4 hrs away) but dodge specialist shop for $850 but I have to supply the credits on that one for $300. Remote kinda concerns me though. It would be alot of back an forth but they have good reviews an I've spoken to one local guy that's had two vehicles done by them, but he takes them to them instead of doing remote an they do all the install too.

Another shop (about 3 hrs away) recommended by my local LS guy (who is really good but doesn't like doing dodge) will do it in person, dyno an street tuning but it's $2100 plus 300 for credits an apparently he's booked till Nov. Which means (to me) he's really good an is highly recommended all over from what I can tell. I would drop it off an pick it up ready to go, so hands off for me lol.

I want this thing right but I have spent too much on it already. I think I'm familiar enough with the tuning process I'll get a decent result from the remote but I also know I can really only afford to get one shot at this. If it was a GM I'd tune it myself but the dodge stuff is weird how they do things compared to what I'm used to so it makes me hesitant to try. I'm always iffy on messing with forced induction/high hp stuff anyway because the error margins are super thin usually an this thing is a perfect example of that since it blew up once already lol.

Part of me wants to use the last shop but the cost is double what I had planned. I guess that's why I'm struggling with it. More waiting isn't helping either. :banghead:

Sheesh, that's expensive! I'm curious, would GM tuning be significantly cheaper?

I'd probably pick the 2nd option, but I would take it to them instead of doing a remote tune.

In my experience it has been. This is not a complicated setup for an LS to me. The cam is roughly like what someplace call a stage 3. It makes 6 psi of boost. Its not something radical that is going to take days to tune.

I found a video about initial settings for a cam on one so I'm trying that out I think, it should be close at least. As an example there are about 12 places you can adjust the idle an how it reacts to affect the "chop" it has. Also depends on if its park or in gear, is the a/c on or not. It could also be referencing one of the torque models etc etc. There's alot going on in there besides a fuel an timing table an a couple of idle speed settings.

Now i havent looked at a gm setup this new but on the ones ive been around for a swap its like 3 settings for idle an its pretty quick to get where you need to be for one to be drivable.
