Hi All. I am new to the site, I was just referred here by someone over at gmfullsize.com.

Recently purchased a 1979 Suburban. It appears to be a very low mileage truck.

I was really doubtful, but all signs point to the truck having 12, 400 miles. It came with all the paperwork (bill of sale, registration, manuals, etc.) from the original dealer purchase. Even has the sleeve that went on the sun visor showing you how to operate the column shift.

It was bought at Eddy Chevrolet in Marlborough and owned by a couple that lived in Marlborough (I live in an adjacent town). It's never been registered out of state and had a clean MA title with matching mileage. The story is that the couple bought the truck to tow a trailer (1978 trailer registration came with the truck as well). A tree fell on the trailer and wrecked it. Then the wife got sick and passed away and the husband didn't use it and he eventually passed. The son traded it in at a local dealer for a discount on a new car, and I bought it from the dealer

Beyond the paperwork, the interior shows no signs of wear or tear beyond some sun fading on horizontal plastic face of upper door panels. Headliner is near mint, no scratches on the interior paint.

It had whitewall tires on it when I bought it, and doing a search on the tires, they seem to be late 70s vintage. Under the hood it has what appear to be original hoses and belts with the right style clamps, etc. I have not been able to spot any replacement parts yet. The engine paint is in good shape. I have seen what appear to be factory marks (hand written numbers) on the radiator cowl and driver-side valve cover.

The body shows no signs of the typical rot we see here in the northeast. There is just some surface rust on the leaf springs and a few spots on the hood. No sign of repaints, all the original stickers in the door jams, etc.

I was really doubtful, but it would really be in incredible shape for 112,400. Either way it's amazing and I am psyched to have it.

If I can figure out how to setup links to some photos, I will. Also looking for fellow enthusiasts in Mass. I know with my last classic (67 GTO), the guys at the car club were really helpful, hoping to find the same in the truck world.

Howdy! I'm eagerly awaiting more pics!

So you mention a sleeve that tells how to shift it... is it a 3 on the tree?

No it's an automatic, but I'll get some pictures of that sleeve as well.

AMT1379: What did you end up doing about the whitewalls? I ask because I’m struggling to find a decent whitewall replacement for my 1980 Big 10.
