In process of changing seals and bearings. Removed diff cover, removed screw and pulled pin. pushed axle in and removed c-clip. Pushed axle back out flush. Went to outside to pull axle on out and it will not come out. It is like something is binding. This is a 1987 GMC 2 wheel drive. 10 bolt rear end.

Sounds like it might just be stuck on the spiders? Mine have always came out easy, did you give it a jiggle while pulling it out?

I'm think the splines might be catching on the sharp axle tube. Push it in and then try again. Might need some momentum to 'bounce' the splines over the edge of the tube.

I found out using axle code that this is a 308 non-locking. The driver side came out fine. The issue is with the passenger side. When I remove the center pin bolt in differential, I can push the axle out flush with the spider gear. I place the pin back in so keep spider gears from moving. I go and pull on axle from wheel side. Pulling and giggling. It will not budge. I can push it back in some and pull it back out. to same point. Could this be a locking differential and be miss marked or have been replace by previous owner?

No it doesn't mean your center section is different. You pulled both c clips out? You don't need to reinstall your center pin when pulling the axel shafts, the spiders will 99% of the time stay in there. That may be your issue, putting your center pin back in may be causing it to bind. Bent axle shaft?

Ive just never had a problem, pull the pin, pull the clips, then pull the axles. Don't be too gentle.

Thanks. Yes, I pulled both C-clips. I will pull center pin and try that. I was just told to be careful and not spin and such so the spider gear alignment would not be knocked off. I am a newbie at this but I am not afraid to learn. Will update tomorrow. Appreciate the input. I will post more pics of my build when I get a chance.
