This is the guide/rubber bumper on the bed itself.

There is a hole in the tailgate that is in the same area as the bumper on the bed. Just curious if something is suppose to go here.

I’m installing a bed bed/tailgate to replace a badly damaged/rusty original. Is there a rubber bumper or alignment guide missing?

Neither of mine had anything in the holes on the tailgate, just the bed.
There was the item in your first picture which is near the top of the bed then a square piece that is several inches lower.

Those are location holes for the press when they are making them at the factory. Also used when they are spot welding pieces together. There are a jig with pins you lay the piece down on to make sure everything is lined up.
