Hello all! Picked up a 1984 3/4 ton Suburban last week. Miles? ALL of them! VIN says it came with a 454, now a small block of some persuasion. 400Turbo is shot. Brakes are stuck (not all of them). Missing some glass. Old girl needs help!!! I am diligently reading up on how to close the rear window because it has been down for many years. It will not unlock. I can pull the driver's side linkage and it releases. The passenger side will not even pull...

The tailgate will not unlock so I can't lower it. I have power under the back bumper but the dash switch does nothing to the window, the power lock button does nothing to the lock and the tailgate switch does nothing. I'm thinking the lock out is doing something. I can pull the driver's side linkage and it unlatches. When I pull the pass. side linkage, it doesn't budge. That side must be the 'lock' side and that's where all of my hair has been pulled out so far.

I don’t think there is any power, or otherwise, lock on the tailgate. If the window is down the tailgate should open regardless of what the power locks are doing. Sounds like the linkage that pulls the latches on each side might be stuck or otherwise have some alignment issues…

The window being stuck down is another matter. Could be the motor is bad? Is there any noise or action in the motor using either the dash switch or the keyed switch on the tailgate?
