My suspension went completely south on me this year. 86 K-10. Changed shocks and the little rubber stops and it still beats the heck out of you. Can anyone with knowledge of the springs respond and say how i determine if it is the springs?

Well the springs are over 30 years old...

Do you know how those 30 years were spent? Just nice smooth pavement driving or on harsh bumpy roads? They have probably settled and sagged and no longer support the weight of the vehicle that well.

What shocks did you get?

How are the bushings in the springs looking? Are they all rotted and gone? When I first bought my truck they were all rotted. In fact the bushings at the rear of the front spring (on the shackle) were so far gone the leaf spring eye was actually sitting on the frame.

Possibly time to invest in new springs or find a local spring builder and have your packs rebuilt/re-arched.

The rubbers don't always rot... sometimes they become what looks like black steel, and about that hard too!
