Here are some pics of the rusty rear end. The rust hasn't eaten too deep yet. I've been contemplating the best way to approach this problem. I eventually want to put a Rhino Lining type paint on it, but that will be awhile and I want to address the rust before it does too much damage. Any thoughts? A man in church is giving me his canopy that he's not using anymore, and I'm going to put it on this Fall to keep the rain or snow off of it, until I can get to the repairs.

Use a rust neutralizer compound to stop the rust, then spray paint over top to protect until a bedliner is applied. When the bedliner is sprayed, the shop will scuff prep the painted surface prior to install.

The rust inhibitor/converter is a good bet. Use it on the hottes most humid day you can but do it in the shade. Be prepaired to rinse it off so you dont end up with the white film on it that paint don't stick too. Do a little reading around about what others have used. I have heard of good results with phosphoric acid (kleen strip). Then get some primer on it.

Has anyone used SEM Rust Shield? It claims that when applied it turns the rust into a hard black protective coating that can be painted over if desired.

I am also interested in a product called Dr X. I watched their video on youtube. Very impressive. 3 stages at $40 per gallon.

I used KBS coating and it seemed to work well.
