Just bought and drug this home from a guys used cars back lot. It is a 1989 R3500, 454/TH400. Paid $1000 and $100 to tow it home. My plan is to get it running, the rear end needs new ring and pinion. (Guy said it started grinding while pulling a trailer). So we'll see what it needs. Says it runs good but I have not heard it. I have a bunch of parts for an engine rebuild if it needs it. Down the road I want to take the bed off and build a camper/box on the back. I am a R.N. (nurse), and I often stay at the hospitals I contract for. So I thought this would be cool to use as a camper/ATV puller/boat puller. Interior is going to be gutted. It smells like a 32 year old's dirty underwear. It has a broken drivers side window. I bought a tinted one this weekend to install to at least keep the rain out. $40 for the glass. Then I was thinking it would look dorky with just one tinted window so I went back to the salvage yard and bought the other side. Tires are crap. The underside looks good. Better than I expected. I really didn't look it over before I bought it. Not much rust underneath. It has a good ding on the front pass side fender that I need to find a patch panel for. I'm pretty happy with it. I am a chevy guy. I have built a few camaro's and a Nova so this should be easier. It's also going to be a driver, NOT a show truck. Therefore I am going to refurbish as much of the truck as possible. I don't want some so nice that i'm affraid to park it at walmart. I'm going to do the Paint and Body myself and i'm no pro. I'll post Pics as I go along if anyone is interested.
Hi. I don't know what GL5 juice is but you can see in the picture that the teeth are chewed down about an 1/8 inch.I'm still looking for a guy here in the city to do the rebuild.
