I'm putting a LQ4 and 4L80E (4WD) in an 84 GMC K2500 with a NP208. I hoping I'm not the first in history to ever do this. Any of you that have have any tips?

I've been told that the 4L80E will bolt up to the NP208. I also read that the output shaft on the transmission is longer than the T400 that is coming out. Is it true that all I'll need is a clocking plate to fill that gap for everything to bolt up properly?

I will be using the Holley Terminator X Max. I'm curious about the VSS. I'm confused on what needs to be done for 4wd Hi/Lo to work properly? I've read a few posts and now I'm more confused. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all

I used a 2007 specific Silverado TC adapter from GM. You can get it at your local dealer. Make sure you get the square O-Ring. with it. You will also need the transmission mount and either adapt it to your transmission cross member or use the one from a donor truck if available.

Your 4wd 4l80 does not have a VSS, only 2wd do. I had my 4L80 rebuild and had them ad the reluctor ring to my drum like the 2wd versions have it. If that is not possible, then use a later model manual TC, which has the VSS installed or use a Dakota Digital Speedo cable to VSS converter. I don't trust aftermarket gadgets, this is why I opted for the OEM VSS setup.

Yes the output shaft is longer but only by 1-1/4", I have yet to drive my setup but my 208 TC had plenty of room for the extra length.
