This is the second, maybe even third time I've replaced every vacuum cap on my carb.. I've tried a couple different brands, and both have cracked completely, or have tears forming. They barely last a year, especially up north where the temp range is -60 to 110*F.

It finally made sense, how on every truck I've bought, the carbs have had multiple ports with pieces of hose with a bolt shoved in them lol. Now I understand. These caps don't last for crap.

Either I keep searching for a quality brand, or I use hose and try to do that as cleanly as possible. I was thinking maybe shove a slightly oversized ball bearing into a short piece of hose and then maybe seal it and throw some black paint on it? Then shove the hose on the barb.

I haven't had much luck with the silicone type ones either, they usually don't fit well, or you have to force them on and cut them off lol.

Give me some opinions!

I bought a kit from local parts store and just swap them out on occasion if needed. But, They were different colors and more of a pliable "vinyl/pvc" material. Even here in the hot ass desert I cant say I ever had one fail.

Another option, although expensive, is to eliminate the need for them altogether. I have exactly ZERO vacuum caps on my truck now. All it took was converting to hydro-boost, efi, NV4500 trans and Vintage Air AC. lol

None that I've heard of. I asked him what he used and he sent me that link.
I'd pay $20 bucks for five of em lol. So long as they don't fall apart within a couple years...

The ones linked, do have more of sheen too em. Appreciate the link!

I also looked up a cheap little variety case of ball bearings, was about $15. With a little bit, of a few sizes of hose, it would be about the same price and actually last for almost ever I'm sure. Don't think it would look bad either.
