Hello! My first post!

What is the largest tire size that will fit on my stock, unlifted 1984 K10 4X4?

I have some 12" X 15" rims I plan to use.

I also found a good deal on some 35 X 12.50 X 15 tires locally but fear they will be too large for my stock set up.

I have heard 33s stock. I have 31s on mine and have plenty of clearance and flex. If your looking into offroading think about the flex of the axles. Just mall crawling don't worry about it much.

I have 32"s and I have fully twisted my truck and they dont hit, but 33"s are max for stock. And there it even depends on your offset and wheel width. My 32"s are on 15x8 Wagon wheels, so when i flex they tuck into the fenders.

I know from experience that with 12 inch wide wheels on a stock 1/2 ton, even 31's will rub the fenders. 33x12.5's will fit for the most part, but that's on an 8 inch rim.

Looks like good info above as far as the width making a difference and 33's on OEM wheels being the max.

If you want to use those wheels and those 35x12.50 tires you should probably consider a 6in lift. 4in at the very minimum will work, but when you get into flexing situation, they're likely to rub a bit too with that width and height. You could do a 4in and plan a little fender trim if your going to be getting aggressive otherwise consider a 6in lift. 6in lift and 35in tire is probably about the most common combo IMO that I see alot of . If you think you might end up going with a 37 military tire, plan on an 8 inch lift or a 6in and some fender trimming.

Thanks for all the replies. I was wrong about the rim width. The rims I have are 10", not 12". (15X10).

I currently have 31's on 15X8 and there is plenty of room; however, I realise these tires have a lot more travel than the ones on my Corvette. I have ~15 year old Firestone Wilderness ATs. Same lot number as the ones that exploded on Ford Explorers. Truck has been sitting a few years and the tires have cracks on sidewalls.

I may pass on the 35's... BUT can someone point me in the direction to do a low-cost, but safe (No front blocks) 4 or 6" lift?

If I do decide to lift, I'd like a set up that can easily go back stock, so no fender trimming. I've owned this truck since new, it is virtually stock except for headers, exhaust and rims. Only 124,000 miles.

UPDATE: I did a search and it looks like a suspension lift is more than what I want to tackle.

Both my K1500 and K10 came OEM with 31x10.50x15 from the factory. It is a factory option in the K10's and 20's I know for sure.

My 87 has 31x10.5x15. Looks good in my opinion. I can't go bigger because my truck just slinks into the garage. Another inch and I'd have to leave it outside and in my wet microclimate by the lake it would rust up quickly.

Cheapest lift I know of as a kit would be rough country for suspension. If you want a couple inches you could flip the shackles or the redneck body lift with hockey pucks Haha.

:rofl: Microclimate by the lake?!?!? So I get this picture in my head that you run around your truck in garage dropping moth balls and silica sand packets all around it to keep it from rusting and safe. Not a bad idea !!!

I have K 25 with 33 x 12.5's on it and had to add a leaf in the front
because it would rub when I cranked the wheel .

Thanks again for all your helpful relies.

It appears that I need to stick to the 31's, especially if I use the 10X15" I have on hand if I choose to remain stock.

But...since posting here I am researching lifting. I have decided to not suspension lift as to do properly looks like upwards of $1K and near irreversible modifications required.

But... and I know from recent searches here and there most shun this...

What about a 3" body lift? It appears I can get a Summit kit for a little over a $100 and no other necessary modifications are required if I am ok with gaps and lowered bumpers, which can be addressed later if desired. The truck can be driven as is.

Keep in mind this truck will be driven less than 3K a year, most highway and the only off road will be deer hunting camp rutted pulp wood roads driven over slowly.

With that said, can I stuff the 35 12.50's on with only a 3" body lift? I am using the logic that stock I can use 32s, maybe even 33s. The body lift would be 3". 35" - 32" is 3"...yes? i understand this is only an increase in the y direction and the tires will travel in both the x and y (and z including steering) directions.

Your thoughts?
