Picked this up from the 90 something year old original owner. He said it’s from the early-mid 1930s. Headlight on a trike back then...he must’ve been the envy of the the other kids.

May not be worth much, but I thought it looked cool.

That's sweet!

That thing is awesome!

Does the emblem say it was made in Richmond Indiana?

From what I can tell. I haven’t done any research yet.

Thanks guys! I have a smallish collection of old bikes, but this is the oldest one I have so far.

Second thoughts:

The more I look at it the more I realize what a special artifact this is.

It's 1930s Art Deco which I consider one of the greatest aesthetics ever created. (Other than Squarebodys of course)

It's quite complex and expensive to make all these stamped contoured sheet metal parts that have to be assembled, compared to the welded tube and "off the shelf" metal tube stock and parts glommed together with minimum fabrication that you could buy today.

And in retrospect it's from a time when nobody thought to put "Made in USA" on something because we still made most everything here.

You have a true piece of Americana here. Take good care of it.

It’s really fascinating to me how streamlining was en vogue beginning in the 1930s and going through the 1950s. Cars, locomotives, refrigerators, televisions, and even tricycles. Just about everything was getting that treatment. Very cool little artifact you have there.

Let's see some pics of your other bikes.

My oldest is a 1935 Schwinn Cycleplane.

That bike is beautiful. Nothing I have is that nice. I’ll see what I can dig up later on at home.

Cool deal. Leave it as is and value will be great, that is if you ever decide to sell it.

Nice score. I had a co worker in the early 90's that used to restore old pedal cars. He had a couple that looked like planes.

Other than using a new paint brush to get rid of dust and cobwebs, I wouldn't touch it.
