The TH400 in my Burb is on its way out, I fear. Really want to do the NV4500 5speed swap. Located in Kansas City MO. Willing to drive a fair distance for a functional direct swap. Need the trans / pedals / clutch ect ect. EDIT - I don't need you to have the full swap. Very fine with getting in one piece at a time. Let me know what you got.

I have done this recently. I will give you some very helpful advice from experience. Any used trans you find will need a complete rebuild-guaranteed. If you're not familiar with the carbon synchro's the 4500's use, just know that 1 drop of conventional gear oil will ruin them and your shifting will suck big time. The shift tower will be worn out as well...and probably all the bearings, races and thrust washers. I just rebuilt a 4500 in the past few weeks. It's PITA and requires some special, very expensive tools to work on. Any good core under $500 is a good deal. Add the cost of the tools ($300 mainshaft nut socket, 250lb Tq Wrench) labor and rebuild kit and you're looking at around $2K. Any hard parts that are worn (main shaft/input shaft, etc.) will need replaced. You won't know that until you get it apart.
I would HIGHLY recommend buying a rebuilt trans from a reputable company like AA. All the work is done and you get a warranty. In the same vein, I would buy the NV4500 kit they sell, you're going to need the adapter bellhousing from them anyway. All the other parts, clutch, slave cylinder, hoses, etc. can be bought locally or thru RockAuto.

@SquareRoot I just saw this reply. I apologize....I appreciate the advice try not to leave guys hanging for a week let alone almost a year. I just picked up a GM NV4500 out of a 97' K2500. Came with a 241 tcase (Went to a buddy), bell housing, master cylinder, pedals, shifter ect ect. It shifts up just fine, drives just fine. Does not like downshifting. I've watched a fair number of rebuild videos on them at this point....and I think I could prob manage it. But time being a bigger factor I will likely be dropping it off with my trans guy.

Have you done many of them? How long did it take you with proper tools?

I've recently done two. There are two tools that you must have. The special socket for the 5th gear nut and a very large, heavy duty pair of snap ring pliers. You can carefully cut the one bearing and race off that requires the special deep or long puller. And I highly suggest Torque Kings manual. It's worth every penny, about $40 I believe.

I watched their videos. Prob the best ive seen. Watched another video where a guy made his own special deep socket. But welding is not something ive had the opportunity to learn how to do just yet. But its on the list. I do think that I will be dropping this one off with my guy and picking up one of his remans.

Have any recommendations on clutch/flywheel? This clutch still has some meat on it but id rather save it for the rainiest of days once society collapses lol
