it only has 39,647 miles on the odometer and is in great shape.

the bad its a gmc with a 305 v6 and the ugly grill and dash

I got it running and took it for a drive to find out it had no brakes and no clutch. it needs a master cylinder.

it runs ok but needs tuned up

I picked it up for 500 bucks

I want to make a ramp truck car hauler out of it

Wow look at that beauty! That is in very good shape considering its age. Those old GMC grills are like drinking scotch, it's an acquired taste. On one hand they are hideous, on the other hand their uniqueness makes them cool. My grandpa had a Chevy C60 that either he bought with a dump bed or built the dump bed. He was quite the welder, so he could have built it but I have no idea. Had the PTO driven hydraulic ram, the truck was pretty cool. That's a nice find you have there especially for $500.

I'd rock that beast just the way it is. (when it's road ready of course)

I looked over the body and could only find three tiny rust spots easy fix and a couple tiny dings.

I got it running and it runs ok but needs tuned up and a clutch/brake master cylinder.

for not having brakes or a clutch it drives pretty good I put about 20 miles on it already.

I wish I could find a half ton short bed in this shape

You should put a 427 in it ! And 30" rims

That's awesome! I think a ramp truck would be really cool!

as long as the v6 runs ok I will leave it alone but first trouble it gives me its gone.

kinda thinking about a cummins swap if I can find a good one for a fair price

and I want to run smaller tires and lower it a little. not sure how I will do that yet

I might find a newer school bus for the front disc brakes and better rear axle.

although the 2 speed rear axle in the truck still works fine

I don't really want to turn this into a total project money hole just clean it up make it run and drive nice.
I would like power steering and better brakes and a 5 speed to go with the 2 speed rear axle

those 70 and 80 something GMCs had 427s in them a lot. Seems like everyone I've seen had one in it.

427 didn't come out until 1966. Not sure when the tall deck 427 came out, but the 366 came out in the late 60s.

Most big trucks with a big block had a 366, many school buses had a 366 as well.

(Although there was a 427 in 1963, but based on the 409 and worth a king's ransom today)
