Going to look at a pair of doors later today and was wondering if there were any stampings or anything to identify original sheet metal form aftermarket?

Thanks

I would say a lack of a door sticker or a mark where one was on the driver side, flimsy metal, and multiple vent window frame mounting holes where someone had to correct the incorrect hole placement on some of them. There’s no stamping that I’m aware of. The interior of the shell might have members written in chalk from the factory in them. I know mine has “87” written all over the inside, but I haven’t checked under the door paneling. Maybe @Keith Seymore can speak to this more. Those scribble marks must just be a Flint thing because my car came from Wilmington assembly and has none of those numbers drawn on it that I’ve been able to find.

If the door has a gray or red primer on the inside, it's original GM. If it's black primer on the inside, it is a replacement. In that case, look for a GM sticker with a part #, or an aftermarket RDOT type sticker.

Thanks for the clues on what to look for ....in the future.
All I had to do is tap on the skins to know they were aftermarket, not what I was looking for, but for $70 a pair I bought them and will put them on my roached out plow truck someday.
