What is the "ultimate" Square body? I think that I have it, 1985 K30 "one ton" Single rear wheel, Big Block, 4 speed, NP 205 T-case, Dana 60 Front, 14 bolt FF rear, Silverado, A/C, Power windows and locks, carpet. Black paint, Black interior. I know everybody is different. This is my opinion, I am curious what "everybody else" thinks.
Just for fun, and something to chat about on this forum.

For me, I have 2.

1. 73 blazer
2. I'm probably biased on this one but 1991 crew cab dually. Big block, 4L80e, crew cab so that you can also tote the family around.

I think that it is the square that you own and love that is the Holy Grail. With that said, it really depends on your perspective and use. I'm a short bed 1/2 ton guy. Others prefer the 3/4 and 1 tons. Now some of the really rare ones may demand a higher premium, the Blazer Chalet as an example. But outside of those types of examples, I don't know of any others considered a true Holy Grail.

I agree with both of these 100%

But id like a 91 v2500 suburban.

454, 4L80e.

Edit:

Owning a rare 1987 squarebody 1500 pickup truck with tbi fuel injection would be dope af, too.

"Holy Grail" label, can be as different to us individually, as the memberships personalities are here.
Highly optioned I'm sure most would agree, command higher prices, therefore more desirable...probably.
Rare combinations doesn't always equate to more interest, or a higher value.
I'm happy if any of my vehicles meet my expectations, and can hold my interest long enough to create a history to reflect on.

I dunno... if a fellow had a 1987 with a TBI 350 would he really be satisfied? He might want a V1500 short bed. He would probably want it to be fully loaded, power windows and locks, the whole 9 yards. Then he might get picky and insist on the SM465 and 4WD. A Sierra Classic maybe...and with that very hard to find Mahogany interior color too. Yeah, that would be a heck of a truck to find and if you did find it the stupid thing would probably be painted that ugly tan color instead of something cool like red or blue.

I kind of think that while some options and packages are harder to find than others, it is all in what each individual likes. I like almost all of them. I shopped for a long time before Mrs. Redfish decided we were buying this one.

My current "holy grail" is sitting under the carport right now. I love everything but the color.

I test drove one probably 15 years ago now looking at a DD. Had a young family at the time and decided not to get it because it didn't have middle seat belts. Looking back on it, should have bought it anyway. Was a clean short bed with minimal rust on it for like $4,000 or something. Unheard of in today's market.

To be the Holy Grail, would it need to be an ultra rare offering from GM or just have everything I want?

My Holy Grail would have been the truck above but my complete definition has changed. At the time I owned it, I wanted to swap in 454, lift it sky high and keep it as a toy. Now, I would want it with a CTD, a 5 or 6 speed manual and keep 35"-ish tires on it then use it as daily.

For me it's long wheel base step side 4x4s. Long wheel base step sides are uncommon, 4x4 variations of them are even more so.
One popped up in the PNW not that long ago. I was not into it at all, but if I see another I'll send you details.

Crew cab 4x4s are also quite rare and deserve a the attention they get.
Do you have any pictures of any LWB stepsides? I cant remember ever seeing one.
