Damn, I wish that man would cover his engines from damage due to weather.
Dropped off the last of his 350's that he had to the shop yesterday, it was .040 over on the bore, so it was destined to be a .060 block.
Well, the shop just called, they were boring it, and they had .003 to .005 to go to hit the .060 mark, but the rust pitting is so bad it won't clean up.
So now, we yank the Goodwrench engine in Ark's truck, HOPE it's buildable, and live with the downtime since we depend on his truck to haul water for the house.

If you're not going racing, sleeving is an option. Although probably not worth it unless it's a particularly good 350 block. It's not like there's none of them around.

Even covered engines left outside are a risk. Water and critters can get into the intake and exhaust manifolds. I plugged the exhaust manifolds with expanded foam and Gorilla taped the intake on my 6.2 I've had in outside storage. I also completely covered it with a one ton demolition bag. This info doesn't do you any good but I would shy away from any engine stored outside improperly.

I think the worst part of this whole thing is the 120 mile round trip to the machine shop every time.
ESPECIALLY the first 5 miles out and the last 5 miles coming back in.
At least I am finally getting out of the house ............

Kevin, too bad you are not closer. I have 4 4-bolts and a couple of 2 bolts sitting inside my storage, along with 2 350 roller blocks that I would have made you a heckuva deal on. Sorry to hear of all the trials and tribulations, but you'll get it done, I am sure!

Perry,
If Ark's Subaru was up to a road trip, and I had somebody to stay and guard my property while I am gone, we would be making a road trip .......
Besides the engine deal, it would be nice to be able to meet you in person.
Of course, with all the treasures you probably have stored there, we would overload the poor car for the return trip.
