Hello All,
I'm in the process of rebuilding my front end (1978 K10 4x4), I have no idea which brake system JB3, JB5 or what I have. To complicate things more there is no glove box let alone a sticker... I don't know the condition of the calipers as I never drove it. I would like to upgrade them if possible for better stopping. I plan on keeping the drums in the rear. Your advice (part number) and any suggestion you have will be very helpful. Hope the pics help

that was good reading however, I'm now more confused. Do I need to change the master cylinder and the booster if I want to do JB7?

Couple good reads on the subject.

Look up everything you need for a JB7 swap.

My old Suburban was also a 1/2 ton with JB5, my new(like as in not the old one.LOL) 3/4 ton Suburban has JB7. I noticed it as soon as I first pushed the pedal.

I see this is a 2 year old thread but I too have the same question!

I have rebuilt my brakes with the JB7 calipers up front (coming from the JB5) and left the stock drums the same. I am looking at my master cylinder right now and the rancid fluid in it and saying to myself why did I think I was going to reuse this?!
