While we are on distributor tonight. I need some easy advice. I have the ESC distributor, I have replaced the factory distributor the ecm all sensors and all. I have a HEI and ready to swap it. Performance reasons that I have weighed. However the easy question for you all is where am I getting the vacuum advance from to supply the HEI?

Are you now using a carburetor? Most have a full vacuum and a timed vacuum port. Either one will work, but idle tuning is slightly different because connecting manifold vacuum to the vacuum advance would increase timing at idle.

Manifold vacuum. What performance advantage do you think you'd get by losing ESC?

Better spark? Don’t really know I guess I’m just going off of recommendations to get rid of that system. It was throwing a 42 code all the time. However I changed the 02 sensor and it doesn’t happen as often. This is a TBI motor

If it's working leave it alone. ESC will allow more initial timing without detonation. Better performance, better milage
